We walked into the Quarantine phase with a sudden public fear for grocery and in a matter of couple days it was close to impossible to find any basic needs, toilet paper, milk, egg and can goods as well as rice and pasta were from the first items that disappeared from the stores. Our tiny toy poodle lost all of her teeth as the chaos was unfolding! Exactly 2 weeks before the quarantine started she had a surgery and they couldn't save any of her teeth! Looking back I am glad we were able to take care of it before everything started and the timing worked out great because we were home through her healing period and now she is the happiest she has ever been. She has adjusted to eating her mashed food and her favorite snack apple in puree form, for once her favorite activity is eating! My job permitted us to work from home on March 16th, the first couple of weeks it was a challenge to get the system set up at home with VPN. Since I was only a month into the job with Help Desk being overwhelmed I had to borrow someone's laptop and work through some software issues to get into our VPN system and be able to work remotely. Thankfully after the two weeks Help Desk was able to catch up and update the system and my account access. made over 50 masks for ourselves and for the neighborhood until I ran out of all the supplies I participated in weekly photography challenges, and practiced product photography aw well as caught up with editing many photoshoot backlogs. Occasionally we went out for a walk in the neighborhood, but then we realized we had a Corona Positive household in the neighborhood that was caught not wearing protection walking their dog, so we never went on those occasional walks after that anymore. Then came our own nightmare, out of nowhere one of Josh's eye got an infection, it got so painful and itchy that he had to go to ER and they put him on antibiotic, after two days there was no improvement. Then he went to an eye clinic to see a specialized doctor and they put him on an even stronger antibiotic all while he started running fevers and not feeling so well. During these critical time the hospital and clinic is the last place you would want to be and here he had to repeatedly keep visiting medical facilities. Then we saw on the news some coronations between the virus and eye infection and immediately Josh put himself under Quarantine for two weeks. did everything I could from behind the door, I cooked him the most nutritious meals I could with what we had and researched all the natural remedies I could find. Some of which was to make him gargle every two hours with warm water and salt to disinfect his throat and mouth. We didn't give him any fever reducing medicine because we wanted the body to naturally fight whatever it was inside his body and kill it with the high heat. Twice a day I made him eucalyptus steam, I would boil a pot of water and then I'd drop handful of dry eucalyptus leaves as well as the natural 100% therapeutic grade eucalyptus oil, when it started to steam well, I'd transfer it to a bowl and ask him to breath into it while putting a towel over his head to direct all the steam inside his lungs. Also with every meal I made ginger/honey/lemon tea and made him drink so much water to stay hydrated and flush the infection our of his system and luckily his condition got better after a week and a half and he is fully recovered now. Then I gave him a haircut which took me so so long, maybe 2 hours and a half, that long that after I was done I even forgot to take the "after" picture Hahaha apparently I didn't cut his hair enough because now his hair after one week is long again so I don't have any actual picture of the haircut that I worked so hard for :) But he said he liked what I created and that he will let me cut his hair again . . oh well, like he has any other choice haha!
While I was on a business trip I got a red slip from the post office for the new lens that I had bought and no one was home to receive it! So Saturday morning I went to the post office to pick it up - it’s so sad that even though it’s spring and flowers are blooming we are under corona virus attack and we are minimizing our exposure to the outside world as much as possible! I have started to wear mask and disinfect all of my clothes as soon as I come home!! Sometimes I fear I will end up a true germaphobe at the end of this virus phase! Our city has had the first 2 confirmed cases yesterday and this is just a beginning, at some point no matter how careful, we all will get exposed to this virus one way or another!
The lens that I purchased is a canon 50mm 1.4 and my camera is definitely upgraded with this new lens, which I am very excited about! I have used a 1.8 all this time and 1.4 looks like a much better built. I can’t wait to shoot with it a bit more to get familiar with everything it has to offer. This was a 4 day and 3 nights business trip for a training through work. I found the training very helpful and absolutely loved the hotel we stayed in - it has many nice accommodations however due to the Corona virus craze I decided not to visit the gym although I took my gym clothes with me, So I worked out and did yoga in my room. Even with as much movement and stretches in tried to squeeze in this trip felt so hard on my body having to sit down all day through the conference with very little movements, as well as a 3 hours and half road trip each way and eating out all of my meals which do not typically sit very well with my body so now that I’m back home and settled back into my routine it’s time for cleansing diet !
These days with Chien Chien being out for medical reasons I am missing her so much! The void of a loving animal in the house, I found myself craving for adopting a cat, though sadly no matter how many visits I have made to the animal shelter none of the cats seem to love me back! They refuse to interact and most cases hiss at me, really not sure why! This cat in the picture today when I tried getting close to her hissed at me very aggressively with her paws attacking me twice! I really cherished the idea of adopting a cat from the shelter, but for some reason cats in the shelter are not liking me back!
Josh's Film camera had some issue with, the pictures were not coming out sharp enough . . so when we took it to get checked in we realized it was the lens that was damaged. Since the camera has a fixed lens there is no way to repair it. So sad!
We have started this lovely tradition of taking ourselves out to a nice dinner on Valentines day. I love all the thoughts and planning the restaurant's Chefs put into creating special menus for Valentine's Day, so I enjoy the experience as well as supporting local businesses in this way.
