This thanksgiving break was super lovely, I got to edit the wedding photos I shot two weeks back and submit them to the client. On Sunday I filmed an engagement session for the loveliest couple and in the evening I went to a Goat barn with Vallen for some creative photoshoot where she dressed up in a cute white dress and we got to be surrounded with unimaginable number of friendly goats asking us to pet them while we watch the sunset with them.
It has been such a long time since I worked in a collaboration photoshoot with a team. It was my husband Josh's first time, so I helped out with the makeup as he put a team of videographer and stylist together for this shoot. His focus is capturing more of the old school urban Austin as we used to know it before all the changes and I think it's such a great idea to work on this project. I have seen the sneak peak of the result and they have turned out so beautiful! Can't wait to share!
This past weekend I was a second shooter for a beautiful wedding at the Preserve at the Canyon Lake and met so many wonderful vendors such as Ashley Nicole Affair that did the wedding planning, everything was flawless and I am counting minute to finish editing the photos I shot.
Over the weekend we got to shoot a proposal session, these are literally my favorite sessions! I can't believe I used to get back in the day so worries about them, With time and practice things definitely change and have a new meaning, because right now I am counting minute til the next proposal session I get to be part of!
I had the opportunity to help with filming a video commercial today for a headset commerical, we shot the session in this beautiful studio in north Austin (instagram @austinphotostudio). The theme was young professional female using the headshot for listening to music and talking to her friend Lisa, our wonderful Model Sarah has been so wonderful to work with, she is incredibly professional and such great personality. We finished this shoot in one hour, thanks to how organized Connor the main videographer is, he is absolutely brilliant! These beautiful photos were taken by Josh, I love them so much he also took photos during the session that I am sure turned out beautiful. I was the second videographer and I shot all the tight shots with my 85mm lens, I can't wait to see the final result.
One of the weekends in fall we will be coming to this farm in New Braunfels for a wedding photography. I prefer to visit the wedding venue locations and meet with the couple ahead of time and get to know them in person. I find this process helps us both in preparation to bring their vision to life.
I had the opportunity to film another interview with a clothing Boutique with Sarah a wonderful local Realtor here in Austin, Texas. This is from a series she is recording to connect more with the community and meet business owners serving the city which I find very valuable as well. Since this was only the second interview I have ever filmed, I have a long way to learn the robes. One of the key lessons I learned from this session was to prepare the bullet point of the topics/question ahead of time, and as we film check the topics being discussed off the list. we obviously went the opposite way and spent much longer time than expected recording to the point one of the lights set ran out of battery so towards you can notice the frames are much darker than the beginning ha! Next time I film an interview let it be known that if there is a mess up please DO NOT start from the top, just go back to the beginning of the last question and repeat until everyone is satisfied with the answer and then move on to the next question/topic! There is absolutely no reason to do a own take on an interview! Weddings and bridals portraits are one of my favorites to photograph, for this session I did trial hair and makeup and photographed a bridal portrait session of this beautiful bride. I then edited her bridal images fairly quickly as she needed them to be printed out for the preparations fo her wedding.
Three weeks later when I met her for her actual wedding makeup, she introduced me to this product by CLARINS called Base Comblante it was pretty much a makeup base prime and it worked really well with her dry skin type, we both really liked how it smoothed the skin before putting the makeup and the results turned out lovely. It's a great tip for those who are looking for a makeup primer for dry skin. After the jobs were completed I awarded myself with chicken wing and it was a pure happiness!!!! I shot a beautiful wedding on Saturday with Josh at Sage Hall in Texas old Town of Kyle. I met the bride and the groom the day before on Friday at the venue as they were living outside of Texas and planned the wedding from distance and it turned out such a beautiful event with amazing people,
This was the second time I made a bridal bouquet, the first round I was very timid about the process so I ended up with a tiny little flower bouquet. Since then I kept wanting to make a large bouquet and when opportunity arose for a collaboration bridal shoot I went all for it. I picked up the flowers on my way to the salon from Trader Joes (costed about $40) and I created the bouquet right in the hair salon while the model was getting her hair done. Of course I took the flowers home after the photoshoot hoping I could do a second shoot with it, but life got in the way so they ended up saying their farewell spending their last days looking through the kitchen window.
