Here is another practice with product photography and videography with a bottle of Facial Mist I already had, I set up all of this in a nearby park, since the bottle was very minimal I tried to add in white roses to match the white minimal label and the laundry concept to flow in the wind to emphasis the freshness the mist creates. I really want to be able to tell a stronger story and combine portraiture/lifestyle with product photoshoots I know there is so much to improve still but I am pretty content with how this set turned out. This was one of the most difficult set up shoot to date for me. Moments after I started to shoot the day turned out into a windy mess to the point it flipped up the table cloth multiples times and finally dropped the vase full of water on the table. As a result I only had very little time to create before had to pack up and come indoors, nonetheless I really like what I was able to create in those few couple shots, it also taught me I don't need to spend the whole day create a set. All of these images were taken on a tripod all by myself.
I have been so excited to share this collaboration as this is the first time I was able to create some promotional content material for a local brand. They provided me with some of the props and I was able to create off their idea and do some more creative plans to come up with other content material. I shot all the footages and images on my own using tripod. I have a new camera body! I don't even know how it all started - but for the past months despite having two other new cameras I kept going to my old 5D Mark II for everything video and pictures! I just love the Canon 5D Mark Series so I sold my Fujifilm XT2 and Canon 6D and bought a mirrorless EOS R that apparently has the sensor of 5D Mark series. I wanted a camera that I could use for both video and pictures and had a better audio focus abilities.
Yesterday I took it out for the first test at mayfield park and pushed it to the extreme shooting at 8pm that it was super dark with ISO around 4000 - I have to say the images become pixilated shooting that dark but if I have to photograph in this condition it is good to know that I can still use them :) We shot this session in January with my friend Meredith the day before her wedding - we stayed at this beautiful vineyard where her wedding took place. When she asked me if I wanted to do a photoshoot together, I had so many ideas in mind, I brought these two velvet dresses that I had just bought and I think with her beautiful red hair the dress matched her very well. I loved how her dog came along and was in some of the shots too. Thought the photos may not show the weather was pretty cold that day but we braved through the session and now we have these images to always look back to and remember that day :)
I celebrated my very first day going out all on my own since my back injury by taking some self portraits and grocery shopping - my back knock on wood is feeling much better! Although it was high chance of rain on the forecast, luckily the rain drops came very lightly and to my surprise I got a good hour of filming and photoshoot done!
Today I went to Balcones Canyonlands Wildlife Refuge, I went to the visitors center that was closed and I learned there are two separate parks to visit: Warbler Vista and Doeskin Ranch. I chose Warbler Vista because it was only 5 minutes away from the visitors center and except for the sunset deck the rest of the trail was really whatever!
I shot this series on analogue Canon G-III QL film camera with 40mm 1.7 Canon lens on black and white film. I still struggle with the focus lever in rangefinder cameras so you can clearly see some of the images are suffering from it as well as the f.stop I used are not accurate so images are not as sharp as they could have been but overall I enjoyed the experience.
For most of my life I struggled with winter season, but this year it was a much calmer experience. It could have been because of the quarantine, covid craziness and the limited times we are actually going out so the opportunity to face the cold and its inconvenience is a lot lower than before? Either way I have had a much easier winter season this year and I found myself fallen in love with the winter lights with its calm and golden moodiness incomparable with the rest of the seasons. These images are from a self portrait photo session I did while hiking through a state park around two hours before sunset time. You can tell gradually the colors changed to much richer and darker shades, I love them both!
